Why you shouldn’t let the coronavirus stop you from visiting your dentist

If it has been a while since you visited your dentist, it’s worth reading a summary of the interview Dr. Bruno Sharp gave to NBC 6 News:

“At Dr. Sharp Dentistry & Associates we follow strict security protocols dictated by the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). Some of them: screening procedures, permanent monitoring, use of masks, personnel protection equipment like googles, shades, shields, head cover, foot cover, everything to keep our team completely isolated from the patients; and the patients completely isolated from us. In addition, we have installed air purifiers in all offices with an extra oral power system to further decrease the amount of aerosols splattered in the room when we perform any drilling. And, at the end of every work, we disinfect all surfaces touched by either the staff or the patients.

We hope this information can help you not to delay the treatment of an eventual problem. Any dental emergency (toothache, broken teeth, etc) can evolve into a more serious issue, such as a gum disease or an infection. And be aware that an infection in the mouth can be a major risk factor for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and particularly pneumonia, conditions that are all strongly related to the mortality rate caused by Covid-19.”
